seine an Eselsohren erinnernden, samtigen, dicht weiß behaarten Blätter machen diese Pflanze zu einer beliebten Blattschmuckstaude, die kleinen Blüten werden dabei weniger beachtet. Er wird auch Lammohr oder Eselsohr genannt.
