Southern Red bishop

This little Red Bishop was sitting high up in a dead tree. I snuck up to the tree and managed to catch him before he flew away.

Red Bishops are normally only dressed in these beautiful feathers during mating season when they want to impress their females. Other times they are very inconspicuous little brown birds

as whitney houston has already sung: "give me one moment in time…" ; ))) what works well for fire newts, ladybugs, hoverflies and tigers works well for him too: can't ever beat the combination of black and orange! he looks just fantastic with his fiery plumage and the alert black eye in a black "face mask" – the ladies will be charmed, if his song is as beautiful and sonorous as his appearance suggests, that is! great wild-life capture, as always, deryck! greetings, sabine.
