The bell-shaped Burgundydrop Bonnet (also called ‘Bleeding Fairy Helmet’ or ‘Bleeding Mycena’) appears always in small groups or clusters on decaying stumps of deciduous trees, particularly beech.
When the flesh of this fungus is damaged, a dark blood-red juice comes out.
Dutch name : Grote Bloedsteelmycena
German name : Grosser Bluthelmling
Latin name : Mycena haematopus
Bleeding Fairy Helmet - congratulations on the imagination for the person who invented such a name:) But after all - why not, has anyone ever seen a fairy WITHOUT a bleeding helmet?:) Lovely compo with this tiny helmet-child in the left corner. Bw, Viola
bleeding fairy helmet?? what a name!! and yet more proof of the bizarre cruelties going on in the world of fairies, gnomes and elves… ; )) to me, however, they look more like an elegant cluster of dainty little "doll-house floor lamps"! their softly glittering caps are ethereally pretty and so is their ashes-of-roses hue! greetings, sabine.
Eine ganz feine Gruppe!!! Sie sehen sehr gut aus und Du zeigst sie in feinem Licht und excellenter Schärfe!
Der Hingucker ist der kleine Hut im linken, unteren Eck....
What a lovely little family ... I can see little hats of fairies with the tiny scalloped edges - lets hope nobody makes them "bleed". A very fine capture with their soft colour standing out well from the carpet of green moss.
gretings, Adele
Das ist ein schönes bild der Pilzgruppe vor dem Moos, die Schärfe auf den kleinen Pilzen ist sehr gut, mir gefällt das Bild aber auch durch den schnitt und den dunklen HG.
