Netzgiraffe - links oder rechts?

Die Netzgiraffe (lat. Giraffa camelopardalis reticulata) gehört zu den Paarhufern. Das Verbreitungsgebiet erstreckt sich über Kenia, Äthiopien und Somalia. Sie werden bis zu 25 Jahre (in Gefangenschaft auch bis zu 35) alt.
Zur Nahrung gehören Blätter, Knospen, Triebe und Gräser. Trotz dieser kargen Kost können die Giraffen eine Höhe von bis zu 5,60 m und ein Gewicht von bis zu 1.000 kg erreichen.
In europäischen Zoos (wie hier im Kölner zoo) leben ca. 90 Netzgiraffen. In freier Wildbahn sind es noch ca. 36.000, deren Bestand aber abnimmt.
