The Egyptian Goose is native to Africa, especially the Nile Valley in Egypt and south of the Sahara desert.
In Western Europe, this bird was introduced in the 18th century with well established feral populations as result (especially in Belgium, The Netherlands and England) but an Egyptian Goose chick is still a not everyday appearance.
Dutch name : Nijlgans
German name : Nilgans
Latin name : Alopochen aegyptiacus
he's beautiful!! just look at his sturdy olive-green legs an optimistic "smile" on his face – may's a great time to find food, it seems! great capture of this very special kind of goose! lg, sabine. p.s.: one of his cream-colored spots is shaped like a swan ; )))!
He promises to become a beautiful adult already showing some of the prominent markings. A great sharp capture ... and just so lovely to see the young generation in Spring.
cheers, Adele
Stunning details on the chick. Great composure with the space on the left for the chick to move into. Well done Mark.
Regards, Perry
PS Thanks for the additional information on the
