FA FREDDO PER LA CIVETTA DELLE NEVI
La caratteristica che più colpisce di questo grande gufo sono gli occhi, di intenso colore giallo, che spiccano fortemente sulle candide penne del disco facciale. I tarsi sono potenti e dotati di penne fino alle dita, armate di lunghi artigli acuminati.
Il colore bianco e i tarsi piumati sembrano essere il risultato di un preciso adattamento al candido e gelido clima polare, e poiché la civetta passa la maggior parte del tempo posata a terra, confondersi con la neve per non farsi scorgere dalle prede e allo stesso tempo non congelarsi le zampe sono due regole fondamentali per sopravvivere.
