A very sad reality in our country, instigated and further deepened by the irresponsible policies of this failed Administration and its brainless doctrine, that have wreaked havoc not only on the residents of Long Island, but also those of us living elsewhere in this supposedly "the richest country of the world", and completely eroded our credibility, respect and standing around the globe too. "Liberal-Minded" is really not the scary thing, as governments outside the U.S. clamor to be called "Liberal". Let's not forget that this outrageous disaster was caused by a (supposedly) religeous, Bible-toting conservative president and his ludicrous ideas.

Excellent composition Ray! We have become a nation of consumers, not producers or savers. We believe the never ending onslaught of TV commercials... consume, consume, consume!... buy now, don't delay!... interest rates have never been lower, apply for an adustable rate home equity loan and get approved in 20 minutes... use the money to pay off your maxed out, high interest rate credit cards... buy that new 52-inch high-def digital TV, that new SUV, or that new bass-boat...
We firmly believe that the party will never end, and the bill will never come due. The Fed just keeps on printing more money out of thin air, big business keeps buying off our politicians and selling out our country, and the media covers for them and paints a rosy picture, telling us not to worry, everything will be all right... all the while mesmerizing the blissfully ignorant masses with re-runs of Friends and Leave It To Beaver, Monday Night football, and American Idol.
Add to this the nauseating, sucking sound of the blood of our youth and our national treasure being devoured by a military machine that conducts illegal wars against other sovereign nations...
How will it end? A recession? No, much worse than that. The Shit is getting ready to hit the fan, people...

First, let me say to Stefan, and Fredrick, that I appreciate your comments on this subject.

There are two main reasons why all of this is happening:

First, the crooked politicians in our government , are being paid millions of dollars in bribes, by the banks, so that they ( the banks ) can make trillions of dollars in profits.

Second, states such as South Dakota, and Delaware, have no usury laws, and the crooked politicians of those states will let the banks in to set up their corporate headquarters, so the banks will be able to charge whatever interest rates that they want, and as long as their headquarters are operating out of those states, the loophole lets them (the banks) charge these "telephone number" rates, into every other state, even if those states that have usury laws, such as New York does.
These days, if one needs to borrow money, they are better off going to a "loan shark", because those guys now have more honor, than the banks do. It's ashame to say that, but it's true.

Any other comments on this subject are welcome.
