Reflections in Another Light

There is so much to feel and discover about yourself and others in a place of prayer. I had been shooting in this church for 5 hours straight. I learned a lot. Like how the indigenous people think from their actions in relation to the use of candles. The more candles they put up and light, the more God will listen to their prayer’s. The indigenous don't pray at the candle, while the non indigenous person will pray alone with very few candles emitting a flame.. In fact the non indigenous comes into pray before the indigenous woman. There is a great feeling of peace. Nothing is stirring about, No flashy bright colors and a dress that moves to say," Look at me, I am Alive”. This indigenous woman thought it is fun to blow out the candles. Personally I was in shock, because I had lit a candle for my mother. As I watched it and reflected a woman came over looked at the candle burning and blew it out. I wanted to cry, I wanted to shout. But The curiosity reasoning got to me. Curiosity is my savior. I allowed me to swallow my pain and see with different eyes. The smoke rising made her happy. Maybe I thought it was symbolic of souls rising to heaven. I had to leave and walk in the light and fin a bottle of mineral water with gas.
