My bank account...

Tibet
Lasa
In a mountainous resort, about 40 Khm away from Lasa, at an altitude of nearly 4000m above sea level, a Tibetan guide poses with pride by probably the most valuable article of property he posesses, the animal yak. A single yak is capable of providing meat, butter, oil, milk, cheese, wool and fiber for clothing and blanketing, skin for shoes, bags, carpets, house holding and boat, droppings as valuable fuel for hard winters not counting transport during difficult trecking expeditions and the fact that yaks can starve for long periods until they are brought to places with grass.
When we asked him what does a yak mean for him he instantly replied:
"It's my bank account..."

Taste of this photo is in the background for the portrayed man. And we should be grateful that every your picture is supplemented by the author's comment. Then we can travel with you :)

A superb portrait of this guide and his faithful Yak which looks after him far better than any gold could do.
