I don't know too much about heavy Asian rain because I try to leave those places in time ;o))

you're right - I think it's the old lady's attitude which emitted that "calm and peaceful athmosphere" to me.

This athmosphere is well supported by the nicely balanced composition and the diagonal from the lower left to the upper right (man - lady - porch of shop)

I think you took the pic in Mcleod Ganj, right? Usually at monsoon the water runs down the road, water high until your ankle :-))
