Fodele village
The little village of Fodele, west of Heraklion in Creta is considered to be the birthplace of the Greek painter El Greco(Dominicos Theotocopoulos). At the supposed site of his home a museum has been erected housing copies , old books and documents related with the painter's life. Two of his original paintings are housed in the Museum of Arts in the nearby city of Heraklion.
