Pontikonesi (Mouse island). In Greek: Pontikos= mouse.
Dedicated to Adele Oliver that recently visited the island.
Pontikonesi is a tiny island just in the center of Corfu bay. It was a place very much liked by the Austrian emperatrice Sissy who-according to historian gossip- very often escaped from her fancy Achillion Palace in the main island seeking a safe and romantic refuge to hide her...frivolities. In the fifties and sixties the island housed a nice hotel that later was abandonned due to extra maintenance cost.

A very beautiful scene well framed by the dark trees in the foreground. For me they give a solid base to your picture leaving the eye to settle on that delightful island and the mountaons beyond.:))
