Once a Corner Grocery Store (1)

now a little boutique (on Victoria Drive)

before supermarkets Vancouver had many, many little corner grocery stores in every neighbourhood (the entrance door being on the corner) .... some still remain, but many have been converted to other stores, cafes, art galleries and living quarters - I love them as they take away from the impersonality of the big stores.

Yes, this is also going on here in Europe. We should be aware
about the question where we're going to buy our daily food in future...

: )))))) maggie smith? leonid, you're cracking me up! my first thought was "a sorrowful but 20 pounds lighter angela merkel" ; ))… what a great capture this is, adele! it's almost like a natural collage: each of the depicted people with their own little individual backgrounds and acting out a little story. even the title theme is already included in the shot: "men – women – local"! fits the scenes perfectly… well, all right, all right, no men anywhere in sight, but the rest of it comes pretty close ; )) my favorite detail is the synchronized walk and appearance of the two blondes – the lady and her retriever pal! ; ) hugs, sabine.

The fine murals on both sides makes the shop extra attractive.
