Stan Hywet, which is Old English for stone quarry, home of F.A. Seiberling founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber pictured here with an old Packard.

In 1898, F.A. Seiberling founded The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, naming it after Charles Goodyear, the inventor of the vulcanization process for rubber. It was the turn of the twentieth century and the Industrial Age was forming modern America where cities grew and industries flourished. Akron, Ohio was no exception – it built its foundation on the rubber industry to become the “Rubber Capital of the World.”

The Manor House is one of the finest examples of Tudor Revival architecture in America. The Seiberlings chose architect Charles S. Schneider to design the home for $150,000. Schneider and the Seiberlings travelled to England and visited well-known homes including Ockwell’s Manor in Berkshire, Compton Wynyates in Warwickshire and Haddon Hall in Derbyshire, influencing the design of Stan Hywet.

( @ Yes, was a great interesting story, the story of invention the mixture. Dramatic like a greec tragedy, hard like a crimi-story. But typical for our world when big business stays in expectation).

Thanks for this great elegant and fantastic converted image, Ken.
Great beside architectural documentation also the "deep" perspective
look on the adorable Packard and his slicks: the integration idea.
regards Michael
