a similar picture taken some weeks earlier, in the evening of July 25th, 2007.
A tandem of two BLS electrics(the second one a leased engine) have 40 empties in tow, back from Italy for realoding in the north of Frankfurt with argillacious earth to be transported into Italy for ceramical purposes.
At least for the loaded train and crossing the swiss alps the two powerful engines will be really needed, the 40 cars weighing about 3600 tons.
Here the train is just entering the suburban, but very important station and junction of Mannheim-Friedrichsfeld, a layout plan of which I have posted hereunder.
