The cathederals Express.

I work as a signalman, but don't often get the opportunity to take pictures of the trains. however, on 5th December this beauty, called Tangmere passed on it's way to Lincoln Christmas Market. It is a Battle of Britain class 4-6-2 locomotive. Luckily for me the sun was shining, (from the right side!), enabling me to get a decent picture. It was taken from the signal box window, hence the high shooting angle.

One of the original Bulleid engines of Southern origin!
I´d have appreciated a shot with a bit more landscape around, but I like it anyway.

At the begin of my railway career with German federal railways I worked as a signalman too for about a year in the box of one of Germany´s busiest junctions then.

Very emotional photo as it provokes images of the Railway Children and happy times. Love the mysticism captured here. Well done, Sonia

Cheers Jim. I actually had little control over the shot as I was signalling the train at the time. I suppose you could call it a "lucky grab shot".

Nice photo. The tracks, train, and smoke create very good visual impact. They also are good compositional elements.
