Aroma Therapy, Borough Market - No.2

…or “Negotiating the vending of some cheesy comestibles” - Could not resist the Monty Python reference ;-) **

It’s late on a Friday afternoon at South London’s Borough Market.

As trains rumble overhead on the Station Approach overpass leading into London Bridge Station,
other sensory stimuli are provided by wafting aromas of Caerphilly and other delectable cheeses.

Freshly baked breads are close by, as are tantalizing selections of meats, so any “rumbling tummies” will soon be
assuaged in a most satisfying manner in the bracing air of this November day in the Borough of Southwark.

I am very fond of series, sequels, trilogies… that´s one of the variegated reasons I like your Aroma Therapy trilogy in which I explicitly include the Mannheim side of this photo-family. Especially I like – though all three pictures are united by their title “Aroma Therapy” and their shooting locations “food markets” – that each photo was taken in an different angle: from top view, at eye level and with a view from below. That provides an exciting variety of different views to the beholder, but it also separates each photo from the other and makes each of this group a “personality” by its own. And I especially like the quality of your prints, which seem to be taken with a digital camera? Their clarity and perfect sharpness not only is unpretentious but very impressive in its modern style (or just therefore?) but it underlines the documentary statement of your chosen motifs. It really is a well done documentation, which indeed should be considered as a series/trilogy, and not only as three stand-alone photos.
Downright exalted I am by the outstanding exposure and the very realistic coloring. Everything looks very natural, the way I would expect it in situ. It´s very pleasant to behold some photos that are not edited, as in the meanwhile is the rule and widely spread, in excessive Photoshop-exaggerations. A wonderful photographic and documental mini-report from some European food-markets, which is pure joy for the beholder´s eyes and sensibilities.

Wonderful image - I just saw this photo and in addition to Borough Market being a favourite place when I am in London I grew up a few miles away from Caerphilly. I like the lighting in the photo and also the sense of "ground - up" perspective. Best wishes and a happy Christmas to you.
