Friday was the 55th anniversary of the publishing of the paper by James Watson and Francis Crick describing the molecular structure of DNA. The Biotechnology class I teach celebrates this day each year by making strawberry shortcake. By now the students have extracted the DNA from strawberries a few times and now they finally get to eat some. I get to judge which lab team can make the best strawberry shortcake. Its a tough job but someone had to do it!

Archie, this photo intrigued me and caused me to check out the description with it for explanation. Hey, if it were not for DNA we would not have the wonderful opportunities for photos we do. Watson and Crick also opened up a door to a better life for many of us as a result of all that followed on their research. Your students will probably be additional contributors if your enthusiasm gets through to them, which I suspect it does! Thanks for the photo.
