Ruff ruff

The bark of a tree.
Please let me know what you think about this as abstract nature photography and what I might do to improve it. Thanks in advance for your comments.

The subject is interesting...bark? rocks? The color is good, and also the contrast. Perhaps it's good that I can't completely identify it.

But it looks a little busy, so maybe experiment with concentrating on a smaller portion of it. Also, different lighting, maybe later or earlier in the day might provide better shadows to help the eye make sense of it. (I know what you're thinking. You were there at a certain time of day, not earlier, not later. Wysiwyg. I've been there, too.)

Also, experiment with cropping it differently, moving the central subject even slightly to the left or right. In the field, try taking several views, some with more stuff included, some zoomed in more, leaving yourself some options for your final "cut".

Nice abstract of the tree bark....you might try to use a little more color saturation to get a little more abstract look to it.....best regards, den

Agree with Elizabeth of moving it off centre and making it then larger to make use more of the textures.

Good detail

As it stands I would have selected and feathered the central part and darkened the edges of the picture....and yes....I would have given it the B/W treatment too.
The ideas that Elizabeth has put to you are very good ideas too. Putting your main subject on the magic thirds will always draw attention.

Have fun :))

Good motiv for an abstract image. But I would placed the focuspoint more to the front and blurred the background.
Greetings, Cees

It's a pity that all parts of "the thing" are not sharp but it's very interesting!

Best regards, Snežana
