The resident Great Blue Heron of VanDusen Gardens (Ardea herodias) .... BLUE in North America, GREY in Europe, Asia, parts of Africa (Wikipedia). I had always wondered why these seemingly alike looking herons have these two different colours in their name (and "ours" does look more grey than blue ???)
