The Living Forest (150) : Birth of an oak
A new oak is born in the forest !
After becoming ripe and red, this acorn (the nut of an oak tree) germinated naturally on the place where it fell or where it once was buried by a jay or a squirrel.
The acorn itself is not any longer on the ground, but extends a few inches in the air at the root that grows already in the ground.

German name : Stieleiche
Latin name : Quercus robur

Great observation and fine sharp capture - seldom do we see the birth of a new tree .... but I get a lot of horse chestnuts and hazelnuts sprouting .... and have to pull some of them out again.greetings, Adele
