The Fungi world (107) : (frozen) Deadly Webcap
Yesterday morning -5°C, look what I found : a completely frozen fungus !
Because of the ice cover, it’s a pity you can’t see the fungus in full state, but it’s a Deadly Webcap.
This species is so deadly toxic that one could be poisoned even after tasting and spitting out only a small piece !
Dutch name : Fraaie gifgordijnzwam
German name : Spitzgebuckelte Raukopf
Latin name : Cortinarius rubellus (previous Cortinarius speciosissimus)

This looks terrific with the hat of frozen snow and all the sharp little crystals. Nobody will be tempted to eat it this way. Nice work, Mark .... and I was just translating the German name literally into English - pretty weird.cheers, Adele
