I like it. It has fine contrasts, monochrome is quite the right thing here, it has a special feeling. Nevertheless something is disturbing me, but I'm not quite sure what it is. Maybe I would like to see the nose a little bit better, or the eye? But maybe this disturbing "something" is just what makes the picture so good?

Martin - when I looked at this before i saw your comment i thought that there was something strange but wonderful about it but I couldnt put my finger on it ... maybe it is the strangeness of the image and the fact that the darkness almost makes the image private rather than a portrait ... I dont know but I do think this is a very good image .. and one that you can probably look at several times and see it in a slightly different way ... regards

Martin, Paul, if there's something 'disturbing', 'strange' then I have to say I'm pretty happy about that. People interpreted this image either as mysterious-scary or intimate-personal. Both reading directions are possible.
For me that's a sign that I managed to create sense, whatever that is! :)
