SENSES OF ISTANBUL, No.4
February 2007

This is an interior in one of the cafe in Ortaköy. You can see dry bunches of grapes going into the wall, mixed with building material. This plant goes from outside through the wall and stretches inside everywhere. Some time ago a big Istanbul's family used to live here building "few houses in one". Relatives occupied different parts but had a common dining room. Seems some partitions were raised or destroyed later on by life changes ... In the same room you could see a door upstairs that used to be an entranse to "next house" but no any stairs to it anymore... Story fades away in time and grape branches hide in walls...

My best regards to Emre Özbasaran and special thanks for bringing me there. It's a dream place for a photographer :-)
