with many thanks and best wishes to you, dear Sabine
an image from my 2009 "archives" .... we have no snow in Vancouver, only in the mountains.
A late explanation: right beside Vancouver's Jericho Beach is an enormous tangle of blackberry bushes with literally dozens and dozens of rabbits of all colours and sizes. I suspect that somebody left two pet rabbits and litter there ..... and everybody knows how they can multiply :-)))). I have seen people leave lettuce and carrots in the area, but otherwise they do fend for themselves - and their number grows from year to year.
In the moment it is very hard for all kinds of animals in our country because there are temperatures between minus 5 and minus 15 degree. The rabbit has a thick coat so perhaps it doesn't freeze so much. By the way: a very nice foto in wonderful colours.
When rabbits don't have Sabine, they have to manage on their own, poor things.
Amazing close up of this beautiful animal, Adele.
I'm sure Sabine will love it. I do.
Hiugs, Viola
Eine ganz wunderbare Aufnahme - herrlich der Blick!!! Das Fell wirkt so wuschelig und dreidimensional, so dass man meint, das Kaninchen (oder doch ein Hase??) streicheln zu können...
Oh poor bunny having to scavenge amongst the leaves and snow for something to eat. He needs Sabine's loving touch, crispies from the bunny bar and bunny company to see him through those long winter days! I bet Sabine wishes she can adopt him and make his expression turn into a happy one.
Hugs to you Adele

: ))))))))) oh, how cute!!! and very interesting! especially the part about them "coming" in all colors and sizes! yes, i bet someone used the beach to dispose of his pets – a disgusting trait, getting rid of pets that way, when they were once loved… will never understand it! twice i caught a stray rabbit and took it to the animal shelter… but most of them are great experts in the art of living. the ones in our garden get by on old leaves, sticks and the little extra food i provide for them at the "bunny bar"/aquarium. just like yours here, they have soft and very warm looking coats these days, and even in freezing nights (we had about -14° last night) they are still agile! love this one's very furry paws and the careful glance he's giving you from the corner of his eye: he knows you're there and is ready to run, just in case! ; ) hugs, sabine. p.s.: shame on you, peter! i'm storing it away in my favorites for a while, to save it from the oven… ; ))
:-))))) This is great Adele, just the right title and dedication..
An excellent capture..Hope he found some nice stuff to eat...
Have a wonderful weekend..
Much hugs,
Canan
The rabbits that I see on my walks are always gone much too quickly.
I also would like to make a photo for our dear Rabbit-aunt Sabine.
You've been more lucky again.
Cheers - A.
