In the mercy of nature...

Greece Aegean Sea Cyclades Santorini
Perched on top of a massive, dull and unhospitable volcanick rock, the villages of Santorini look as if eternally begging Nature not to roar ever again ( the most ferocious was back in 1660 BC when eliminated the glorious Minoan civilization) and keep all the distructing forces deeply inside her belly for ever...
In the photo the village Imerovigli.

What madness... How can people live up there?
Looks like a village for the exiled.
    An impressive vertiginous photo...

an image with an inherent sense of disaster lingering over it – despite the seemingly friendly and protective cloud… a disaster of erosion, that i hope will never happen, as the place and the people that settled on it over the ages have obviously had their share of catestrophe and thus suffered enough. yet, i can't help but see a dramatic V shape in the layers and layers of volcanic rock: it's probably just an illusion created by light but it makes me imagine a terrible fall, rocks crumbling, houses going down in the funnel… may the gods be kind and complaisant to never let this silly woman's vision come true! ; ) a splendid image of the sunkissed houses sitting on the rock like a colony of washed-out and bleached barnacles! greetings, sabine.

The tiny village looks as though it is clinging on for dear life...almost slipping over the edge. It is not until you actually see those tiny houses that you realise just how big that volcanic outcrop is.
An excellent and well detailed scene.

    :))

Wundervoll dieser Anblick der weißen Häuser die sich auf den mächtigen Felsen zusammen kauern und sich dem Himmel entgegen recken
wieder ein traumschönes besonderes Bild lieber Alexander
    herzliche Grüße

Good use of the low view point and the village / town perched on top open to the elements
    :-)) Harold
