Nicht Aussteigen!

A caution worth heeding. Here at the busy Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, one would not want to find himself
disoriented on a narrow platform with no egress, as trains whoosh by in either direction, just inches away.

On the other side of the “real” platform, a big red rabbit growls contentedly behind the two humans.

No, the photographer was not smoking anything funny while taking the photograph and imagining
ferocious, snarling mythical creatures invading the station on this sunny autumn afternoon in 2010.

The Deutsche Bahn BR-218 diesel hydraulic locomotives are called "Rabbits," not necessarily because they’re
quick off the line – or eat leafy greens or carrots to make them go – but because of something not seen in this view:
their “Hasenohren” (rabbit-ears) exhausts, which sprout outwards to the left and right atop the machine.

Like to hear a big red rabbit growl? Watch this and you’ll see the “Hasenohren” on TWO
big red rabbits and almost smell the exhaust shooting out of those rabbit ears ;-)
