Gold-mine of Ouahigouya, Burkina Faso – Men, boys, women and children work hard all day long in cruel condition only for board and lodging and a (very) small percentage of the gold dug out. The air temperature is near 50°C, the ground temperature is over 65°C.
a child who can't be a child (playing, joking, running around etc...............) the expression of his face tells thousands of stories....
sad that we can't change such situations........
saluti & thanks for sharing

This photo has been selected for the gallery with 81 pro- and 19 contra-votes. Congratulations, Sergio Pessolano :-)
This photo is comparable to any great masterpiece from Sebastiao Salgado, but in colour, ie. it evokes the same feelings of injustice and inequality, which is sadly a common feature in the World. Super PRO!

Grazie Lisa. Il tuo contributo dato nel raccomandare questa immagine per farla conoscere ulteriormente sarà un'altra goccia di aiuto affinchè i nostri figli non debbano più confrontare le proprie coscienze con simili realtà.
Thank you Lisa. Moreover, your contribution given in recommending this image in order to introduce it better, will be a drop more of aid so our sons do not have more to confront their consciences with similar realities. (Sorry for my bad English)
I was looking at this series of Sergio's earlier this afternoon. And where they are different because of the subject, first thing i noticed was the fact that they are all taken from above, a high ( and dry ) point of view which imho opinion results in these pictures being too much detached from the subject. Pictures about such living and working conditions for people have in the past sometime brought about changes, but in order to bring about changes the pics should have far more impact, and i find that these pictures lack just that.
wow sergio, these colours are so amazing, his skin colour against all the gold tones is so magic, yes hard work indeed, hope he found something worth while
Pro +++++

I will vote pro to every single work made by him.
Can't understand why there're some people lacking in any further understanding or emotional feeling to his works, never been out of Europe for living in somewhere in very poverty b4?
another inspiring image Sergio. Talent to burn is what you have...you could still be a craftsman photographer with one eye tied behind your back. Good work mate...A well deserved Pro..cheers..Rob
when you see this boy , it's hard to talk about the great colours and the exellent composed theme, but on the other hand, these elements make you to notice his drama and guide you to make a "stop" on this photo.
Great work!!!
Sergio I love your work. I do hope, however, that in this case you gave the kid some money as his pic will undoubtably lead to you gaining some in the future.....jeff
