Isfahan is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world and called the "Hidden Jewel" of Persia. It is loaded with superb mosques where one can admire the highest aesthetic level that islamic art reached especially during the period of the Safavide dynasty(1500-1720) that were considered the Persian Medici.
In the photo is the famous Meydan square, a really dreamy place driven out from the...Arabian nights and one of UNESCO's world heritage sites. It is surrounded by three superb mosques which are composed from a cascade of gold and all sort of colorful tiles and also with the palace(Ali Kapu) in the west side.
In the photo one can see the south side with the imposing Shach Mosque and part of the west side. The Ali Kapu palace is missing.
