Grain mill "Rijn en Lek"

Netherlands, Wijk bij Duurstede, March 2007

This mill was built in 1659 on a town gate, so called Leuterpoort, which dates back to the 14th century. The mill is still used as a grain mill.
It is also called "Molen van Ruysdael" after a famous painting of 1670, https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/nl/collectie/SK-C-211 by the Dutch painter Jacob van Ruysdael.
The usual name "Rijn en Lek" is due to the fact that behind the dike (at the right in the picture) the river Rijn becomes the river Lek.
