The monument has become one of the most internationally known icons of Brazil. On July 7, 2007, in Lisbon at the Estadio da Luz, was elected one of the new seven wonders of the world. In a survey by America Economia magazine, in 2011, Christ the Redeemer was seen by 23.5 percent of respondents as the greatest symbol of Latin America. The survey was conducted over the Internet and gathered the opinions of 1,734 executives from all countries of the region.
