Astana (uebersetzt Hauptstadt) ist seit 1997 Hauptstadt von Kasachstan.
Die Stadt hatte viele Namen: Akmola, Akmolinsk, Zelinograd.
Die Einwohnerzahl betraegt ca. 570000.
Zur Zeit ist Astana eine einzige Baustelle. Das ehrgeizige Aufbauprogramm - ein neues, modernes Stadtzentrum - des Praesidenten Nursultan Nasarbajew wird in die Wirklichkeit umgesetzt.
