Please accept my congratulations on your life's achievements as mentioned in your impressive new profile. Judging from what I've read of your accomplishments and seen of your work, you certainly have "the right stuff" as a photographer and businessman. Hello Patrick,
I was browsing through your photos and must admit you are a masterful, consummate photographer and I'm baffled by the beauty of your works. My congratulations for the repeated selection of your images in the Gallery. Have a great week.
Stefan
thanks for comment..

Patrick Dear Friend,
I did a part of this extensive trip from September on. And just back from a different-amazing world...
But the highlight of my photographic trip will be from Singapore all the way to Istanbul!!! I am planning to cross Malaysia-Thailand-Myanmar (Burma) China-Central Asia and eventually entering Turkey from Georgia. Crossing the Black Sea shore... I will let you know once the trip is on.
During this long journey, a photographer lady will be accompanying me and a pre-arranged guide for each country.
As I have a diplomatic status, I also will contact the Embassies of respective countries I’ll cross and request for security along their country -in case of need-
I will have one more seat in the car... Who ever is interested to take the challenge, he/she is most welcome :-))
Cheers

Hello Patrick and many thanks for your kind comments on my shots...much appreciated.
I'm sorry I didn't have time to 'do' British Columbia and Alberta in more depth while I was there but alas time was short and what there was was spent with grand children rather than taking photographs.
I'll have to come back sometime and 'do' it properly.
Take care,
David
Hi Patrick,
thank you for voting my pic for the Gallery. You are very kind.

Hi Uncle Paddy,
To be honest i am not tired of "shooting" people :)
I have had very busy times these last two weeks,
I have had a shoot on location and one in the studio twith models from Elite. :) The photo's will be presented to dutch ELLE & AVANTGARDE to get us assigments for these mags.
Last saturday i had a job shooting at a party for KLM stewards and stewardesses & sunday there was a party from 20:00 till 00:30 called D'estillo with young talented creative artists, designers and photographers - where lud and i had our own mini studio and shot people who had customised clothing (they could make that downstairs, we were upstairs) and after that i had to work at Sundae@Escape from 00:30 - 04:30 to shoot party people...
So actually i am covered in work right now, i did the sundae photo's right after i got home (remove pimples, resize and upload and also the KLM party photo's so together 250 photo's and we still have to work on the shoots we did for ELLE and AVANTGARDE, we did the first 4 series, now we need to do some more. but they look astounding and impacting.
(if i say so myself :) )
So i am not tired of shooting people, my hands itch for more.
Dolly is who is "use" when i have no one to shoot, and to satisfy my hunger to shoot.
be well uncle paddy!

Nice one Patrick! - looks better than the original
Patrick , thank for your concern, and for the advice. Your photos with the 828 are great, but I think that they are great regardless the camera used.
About PS, I haven't made that big step yet (but I will install it soon); I currently make the photo-editing with a common viewer.;).
Best wishes,
Ionut
Hi Pat,
Thank you for the comment. Yes, due to work and personal commitments, I was unable to spend much time with the photography or on fc. It is nice to be back.
The Shack is a little remnant of a once farmed island (Santa Cruz) off the coast of California. It is one of the Channel Islands. Although mostly uninhabitted now, it has some great camping, hiking, snorkling, and (of course) some nice photography subjects. Otherwise, I do not know much more about the shack itself.
Thanks Pat,
Gerry
thank you deeply for the kind words, patrick :)
much appreciated...
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my portfolio, Patrick ...

Patrick - thanks so much for the constructive comments left on my Saint or Sinner photo... yes I would loved to have taken this inside a church but I dont think the local vicar would let me! - I had to make do with a converted warehouse... I hope to do more with Jess.. this was her first ever photoshoot.

@ Darius
Hello Darius. Thanks for taking the time to check out my website. In answer to your question, getting good long exposure shots is a real challenge, particularly when you are using film. With digital, you can see the results right away, but with film, there is the wait time. The amount of ambient light is the key factor. If the scene is primarily dark, you can expose for up to 4-5 hours. (night skys) In most scenes however, I find that 30 secends at mid aperture will provide lots of detail, saturation and streaking effects. There is no golden rule - its all trial and error. Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful. Cheers from Canada.
Hello Patrick,
thanks a lot for your comment on one of my pictures, I very much appreciate....especially if it comes from a real profi at his work. I´m very impressed by your homepage it seems you have a really interessting job there, wow...

hey, really nice photos u make, just visited ur webside....i'm totally fascinated by ur long exposures.... and u don't make'em with dri technique, what imposes me much more......
perhaps a pro like u can give me some suggestions about making long exposures, i'm using middleformat, kiev 60 with some equipment... most problems i have with the light, one time it's too dark, one time too bright, never 100% correct.... u have any idea? how do u measure the time for exposure'?
greets from germany and a lot of thanks....darius

The pictures are Liza, Blaque Aqua and Divi Divi tree (will have adifferent size) available in 2 sizes : 80X70cm and 100x80cm :)
We are very excited, the photo's will be printed on canvas and have a UV filter on it and a special new fiber frame instead of wood to prevent bending of the frame :)))

Hello and thanks for your suggestion. I understand perfectly what you say and I think is the best Idea, but, I´m not putting that tag (not copyright info) because i want, is because i need to avoid visitors to copy my pictures and using it for any other purpose. Please, I know you understand. Thank you very much for reading.
Hi Patrick, thanks for your nice comment about my pic. Yours is just great!!
I took the picture out of a building from the HK-Island side.
I love photography, but never had any instructions. I'm trying to improve.... So if you have more critic words about my pics I will be glad to hear from you...
I just found this website - it's an interesting platform, isn't it?
Best wishes from Germany!
You are amazingly talented.
Sara
I know the film, tho i havent seen it since i was a kid.
Loving the side burns, i should grow some!
Luke
Hello Patrick,
Thank you for your comment in my photo...
Hey Luke,
Do you know about the comedic genius John Belushi from the American TV Show Saturday Night Live who played "Jake" in the Blues Brothers movie from the 1980's. That's him (me) on the bottom of the pic.
No Mac yet, still building up the money for that one.
And no studio set up yet, just a couple of 150watt lightblubs in house-hold lamps and some white card for reflectors, hard work to work with but i get there in the end!
Which one is you in the profile shot?
Dear Patrick,
Many thanks for your kind comments…
You are right -:)
My portfolio is being presently -half way- updated… I did some thing crazy and erased my entire analog images from photo community. All my negatives are being digitalized and sorted in a way.
Presently I have uploaded only few images. And the rest is not open for public -photo home I mean- Some images I do keep for my personal photo exhibitions which will start as of mid 2007.
I did remove about 200 photos from FC and upload about 220 new photos in a very short time. It may be too intensive for visitors to catch up with so many images in such a short while…
By the way, I have the crazy photo-excursion project which will start from Singapore all the way to Turkey. And I am in search of a safe route and a travel partner who shall be also a photographer and interested for a long trip by car. I will announce this soon once every thing is ready from my side...
By then I hope many people will be able to experience and also comment about those pictures…
God bless you :-)
HI Patrick,
I'm yoiful for your visit and comment for my job

why is it that I haven't written here before??? Well, been watching your photos for a very long time, been following lots of your comments in the forums and have mostly always liked them. So I just want to say Hi to Vancouver and hi to you from a former Edmontonian ;)
Stay the way you are!

The fence there is to keep people out!
Thanks a lot here. hmm you know that many things concerning our privacy we can't talk too much about them here. Most people are natural to be evil, they think of you in rather stange and negative ways instead of something good, well the best example is that some people would think of me very rich merely because of what I show here.
well anyway thanks quite much, I feel glad to hear your interest.
Anastasia
Thanks! I love this site very much, I'm almost addicted to it! greetzzz

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for your time and very helpful advice. Yes, the release forms are something I have given small thoughts to. I am hoping to have an exhibition as well, so these release forms are proving to be important, if not essential - something I really need to think about.
In fact, I was talking about these forms just last week, so I hope to have a copy (which I will try to use!) in future.
this has been most useful,
kaj
The study: Yes, I will try to keep you updated with the facts along the way. Please feel free to give me your honest criticisms - they are much more valuable to me...
10 Patrick, the photo is made with my Sony H1 + some old russian Zenit lenses. Because I don't have any adapter rings for this one, I had to use duct-tape to mount it on the sony adapter…that's why there is a lack of focus on the margins…but anyway, I was impressed by the resoult. The lenses ware mounted backwise, in the normal way I couldn't focus anything. now i`m waiting for some original Sony lenses, i can`t wait to see the resoults with this ones. Some other super-macros you can see here if you want: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1009&thr

thank you, like the comment..and I really love this site!!
yeah, difficult times r always a big emotional change....actually i´m very fine...sometimes i just believe that I have 2 personalities, i think...that´s kind of scary...but it helps me to tell better stories...to describe what i feel..
Thanks for you comment...it means a lot to me, that people think about my picz and don´t say "oh nice picture"....go on...
Hope to talk later again to you...
cheers...says the the german chica...;-D
oh thanx for your comment,...i know..the picz are not that good...but it´s an emotional picture...sometimes you´ve got that feeling..that everything is over...and you can´t breathe anymore...but life goes on...

I went last summer, watched the light show from the Avenue of stars. Al my pictures of the show are rubbish as i had no idea what i was doing with my old camera back then.
I took this one from the top of the 'peak after a very funny tram ride.

Hey i,am new on this page. if you want you can tell something about my pics thanks a lot. daniel. my english is soooo bad....
I'm really impressed" :D
You invent these "Song-Mixes" so awfully well!!!
It's always a pleasure to read them! I would like to pay this pleasure back. But I think I hardly can do this that perfectly! Although I know the albums and the singles... But isn't it difficult to mix it that cool?
Anyway, I really enjoy these comments, they are as artful and elaborate as your photos! Maybe even that "colourful"
I think you are a great talent! Thank you
In Swedish mean "orka" word for word have the energy to i think.. But I mean that it was so nourish and perfect, just to cool.
i love photography couse there are a lot of emotions... it's like other language. pictures says everything...we must only want to look and see...
Hello!
Yes, it is many horse-loving girles from Sweden on FC. I each many of them, because some of them go horse riding on the same "riding school" as me. :) Sweden it´s a very beautiful country and the best with Sweden is all the horses, it´s so many! Canada seems to be nice too, I have always wanted to visit Canada. (:

Hi! Yes, it would be fun if you could comment some of my photos too, but I don't have so many yet. But I see that you've got a lot of good photos!
We're also finally getting good weather here in Sweden, this winter has been very long. Or maybe not long, just very late. I want the summer to come, I love taking photos in the summer.
Oh, I didn't know that so many people from Sweden have photos of horses. Well, I'm not interested of horses so I don't think you're going to see any at my place. :-P
Well noticed! Honestly I haven't realized it yet. :) But I think it's even better! Greetings
Many thanks, Patrick, for the comments and to add me in your buddies list. I had already made it with you... :-)

Thanks for your comments Patrick, & from a master such as yourself, it's a real boost for me. Your images here are amazing. You have such a passionate vision of live. Keep up the amazing work & thanks again
Jamie
Under your profile you say "music matters most" and I couldn't agree with you more. Your turntable shot reminded me of how much I miss playing with vinyl. The large artwork, tactile feel and the mechanical facination of it all. I have now over 30.000 songs and samples in my I-tunes library and the convenience of MP3 and the clarity of AIFF is still no where near the quality of a half speed master pressing with a great cartridge. I had fun "pulling your leg" with the Hendrix title - but your explanation is best for sure. I've gone through your portfolio and really like your night work. I see you have been to Cuba as well. Sonically yours. - Patrick
Hi Patrick,
thanks for your comment on my turntable :-) you are absolutely right and it is my lack of precision that lead to the usage of this title... Actually it was "Meet the Beatles" displayed, but somehow vinyl always reminds me of a warm whispering wind, hence the title popped into my mind :-)
Rgds Jan
Hi Patrick,
I agree, I would like to see more suggestions for improving. In fact, realizing mine may be totally off base, I would welcome responses to my own suggestions; I am new to this and am also here to learn so any suggestion given to me is taken in that context.
Thank you,
Gerry
hi Patrick,
thanks for your compliment to my picture:
Hi Patrick!
Thanks a lot for your kind comment on my pictures. Seeing your professionnal work, it touches me very much! :-) I love especially your "Tension drop", just amazing. The "Actor" is so impressive and Hong Kong Laser is great too. And you can make wonderfull pictures on all subjects! That's difficult for me..
For my profile I will make it better... I have already written some words but at the wrong place (in the comments) so you can know a little who you are talking too.. ;-)
Best regards
Lara
hi patrick,
first of all, thanks a lot for your comment.. and for the very nice one in german as well =)
its a pitty that you can't view my pics, I've "loaded them up" (I don't know if this wording is correct..) only in the "german fotocommunity". if you want to see them: http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/mypics/541885
this should work.. hope you like them =)
by the way my name is noura not nora.. =)
cheers
The photo with the shine and the "hidden teardrop" - no, unfortunately it was real life, but that's how it is sometimes, and photos are quite good means to deal with it or to accept it. Optimism is the magic word or at least a white lie
http://www.canberraarts.com.au/resource/Marilyn%20Monroe.jpg
this is the link to the Marilyn-photo by Cecil Beaton, you are right, he was British =), but mostly took photos of american societymembers. Anyway, not important.
The girl on the photo is a friend of mine, I made a project on paraphrases and tried to "paraphrase" Beaton. I noticed that he always has a very striking backdrop. It is in many cases very artificial. But there's hardly more in it... Pure artificiality, excepting the faces. I can imagine, it was not easy for her to look that way, but in my opinion she did it perfectly. As you said, frightened and fascinated at the same time.
The technique was quite simple. She was lying on the backdrop on the floor while I was standing on a leader shooting her. The photo is a little bit blurred. That is always my problem. Also while taking the photo of the city. I just walked down the street and there was this sky and this "restlessness" in the crowd. They were moving, they were hurrying, bustling. During the editing I noticed that it was a little bit too blurred. But you are right with your advice. I should really pay attention in finding a secure surface. Promise, next time it will be better! Thank you for your comment!
Thaks very much for Your comment to
Thanks for your comment! I think its soo fun that prophotografers all over the world can send comments to little me, and others on this site. On my new pictures its just a little "c".
Thanks for your wonderful comment Patrick and thank you for helping me gain some insight into how I am doing with my digiart.

Hallo Patrick!
Thank you very much for you most kind comment,
but your gallery is display for me.
Bye, Eli
Quite cool to be a fan, isn't it? You may be assured that there will always be a mass of crazy idealists who will always think the same way you do, at least concerning Pink Floyd.
Unfortunately I was too young to see them live, but all the stories my parents and their friends told gave quite an impression to me! And their shows are amazing! (Even on video!) Their split is/was a great loss for the music world.
Anyway,
"Well I’ve always had a deep respect, and I mean that most sincerely.
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think.
oh by the way, which one’s Pink?"
Hi Patrick,
Thanks for your looking at my portfolio.
I would be happy to see your pics of the winter olympic games, can you give me a link?

(Please excuse if my English isn't perfect)
How could I miss that from your images? I'm from Saskatoon - born and raised. My mom is from Govan, my dad from near Batoche. I still have friends and family back there so I get back quite often. In the summer we head up to Emma Lake and Otter rapids. It is a small world.
Cheers,
Patrick
Well No Mans Land is Saskatchewan, lol....
thank you for the welcome.
It flatters to me that it likes my work. Also I have seen his and has very good level. With but time it will at great length watch each one of its works, but my preference from already goes for "Network - repost". It wanted to make something similar...an excellent work.If something this badly written, thousand pardons, I made use of the translator by my little almost null knowledge of the Ingles.
hoi Patrick, just visited your website and noticed the "untouched" version of this photograph
I like it even more than the one with the red nailpolish :D

Yo,Patrick:)
Thank you for touring my photos!
The old, retro car from my photo "One moment in time" is actually not sooo old:) It is a Russian GAZ-14 Chayka from 1976.In the 70s that was the most luxirios car there, the first one was a personal gift for the Russian leader Leonid Brejnev.
V8/5 L, 220 h.p., acceleration 0-100 km/h for 15 s, max.speed 175 km/h.
In fact it's a rare car. They stoped manifacturing them in 1988 and for those 12 years (1976-1988) they made just 1114 cars (few of them cabrio-type).
That's what I know:)
Take care and good luck!
Patick.....I am pleased that you enjoy little snippets from my travels. Thank you for your kind comments. The Sink Well is in Mexico near a tiny village on the road to Chichen Itza.......Janet

Hi Patrick,
Thank you for your appreciation about my work.
I turn my slides in digital files by myself with the scanner Epson Perfection 4990 Photo. With less than 300 Euros it gives scannings of the same quality of 5000 Euros scanners.
I take the scannings always at least at 4000 dpi.
Later I use some PS plugins to improve the sharpness (KPT Equalizer) and to remove the noise (Neat Image).
Have a great weekend.
Sergio
