The photographer is like the cod which produces a million eggs in order that one may reach maturity - George Bernard Shaw
A photograph is neither taken nor seized by force. It offers itself up. It is the photo that takes you. One must not take photos - Henri Cartier Bresson
A good photograph is knowing where to stand - Ansel Adams
What we do during our working hours determines what we have; what we do in our leisure hours determines what we are - George Eastman
If you saw a man drowning and you could either save him or photograph the event ... what kind of film would you use? - Anonymous
My interest in photography started way back in 2003 when living in London a friend inspired me to purchase an Olympus Camedia C50. I now use a Canon 20D. My favourite photographic themes are landscape + portrait, but I'll try anything once ... ;-)
To your questions what a vernissage is...
A Vernissage is an exhibition from artists in an art gallery.
you can also buy pictures at exhibitions.
I did sell 3 pictures out of 4 pictures that i showed :)
G'Day Frank...thanks for visiting and commenting on my pictures...I visited Australia in 2003, and took over 400 pictures, sure wish I would have had my canon 20D then...after seeing several waterfalls pictures, including yours, I have been experimenting with a special place not far from where I live. When the rain comes in the winter, and the trees are bare, you can see some small waterfalls. I went there the other day, after some bad news about a medical condition, for a little inspiration, and the waterfalls was all the way accross the stream bed. It was much more impressive to me because of the reason I was there, and the photo does not do it full justice...sorry to bend your ear so long, mate. Have a great morning, den
Thanks! Yes, I agree, it was one of my first pictures, I didn't use a tripod as I hadn't planned on doing a shoot at the fair! I am getting a tripod soon though so I can take some more pictures like this. Gracie.
I thank you for taking the time to vote on this image, and I am glad to say that it made the gallery. Pro or con, your comments are always welcome. I see by your new profile pic that you are up in the air. All the best from Canada. Patrick
So now we have each had a taste of doing nude photography. I really admire the guys who do it well because it's not easy making an image sensual and erotic, without looking cheap. I look forward to doing some more. It's a lot more fun than shooting eggplants.
Hi Frank, Thanks for your comment, i had to capture the blue sky as it doesnt happen very often, clever of you to pick it up lol Jackie
Actually the weather was quite good whilst i was there, thankfully they had had weeks of torential rain before i arrived.
Best Regards Jackie
Hi Frank, thanks for your comment. This triggered a look into your repository. I have clicked you buddy, as I am fascinated by your great landscape pictures. Specifically as I love your country !
Looking forward to see more, mate !
We broke more FAA rules and regulations with our jury-rigged, duct tape, camera mount than you can imagine. I took the centre post from my Manfrotto, placed it against the tail and taped it into place. If that sucker had broken loose and got into the flaps I might not be writing you today. I will never forget the look on the customs official face when we flew from Vancouver Canada to Friday Habour USA.
DON'T approach your pilot friend with this idea unless you have a more sophiscated attachment system in mind.
No, not pedantic at all. It's a very good suggestion and notice given to me. I can try remove it by editing the picture and I believe it will make it look better very likely. THanks a lot here! very useful criticism, and of course I am happy to know it. :)
Hi Frank, Thanks for your comment This little one was hiding from me too, but i managed to capture him through the tree's. We used to have lots of these visit or back garden but there dont seem to be too many of late
Thank you very much for your comment at "Stuttgarter Ecken V - Blick nach oben". Its taken at noon. Heaven is black cause of a solarisation by Photoshop, then i used the softlighteffekt, using with white color. The Original is a Colorphoto, Taken with my Nikon Coolpix 5700. That would be much work in my darkroom. Photoshop ist much easier.
you pressed the right key of my soul: Steve McCurry is my myth and my inspiration source and his "Afghan Girl" is a myth inside a myth. Thank you for the comparison: I am very honoured.
(I have the color version too).
The value of this site increases exponentially whenever someone takes the time to make a comment about people's images. Even though I've been shooting for years, there is still a lot to learn. Keep the comments coming.
Now for me its good to know, that i can enjoy a lot of people with my photo-style.. .. .. ..and that gives me a really good feeling !! As you know i'm a new member for a week and than you recommended me !!! That feels really great to me.
(for me it took a while to put a comment with a picture in your profile, but finally i find out and made it.. .. .. ..)
Grazie per il commento alle mie foto. Ho visto le tue e mi soo piaciute particolarmente quelle dei fiori e degli animali. Dal cognome mi sembra che le tue origini sono italiane. Saluti da Messina (Sicily).
Thanks for helping me out with my quest to find out about the movers and shakers in the photography world. Im pleased you like my Black Widow shot. Thanks ever so much. I love your Paris landscape...
Thanks for your comment on my rust tree pic. I love the 'Lioness' photo of yours. Was that taken with the 20D? I'm hoping to buy one soon. Look forward to seeing some more pics from you.
