Thank you for your comments about "Inside Space" and "Barry",John. I don't really know what I did differently with "Inside Space". Hi John -

George and Dusty are not my cats. They belong to my sons.

I just love all cats. We had Shadow for 20 years and Charlie for 17. We did not pick either one, they picked us. They just came and stayed. Shadow, a beautiful black Angora Cat und Charlie a Maine Coon, a gentle giant of 19 lbs. - not fat just big.

Here you can take a look at them at my Webpage at Webshots.

Marit Hansson, 3.10.2005 at 19:47h

Hi John, thanks for the comments in my profile and on "Dolbadarn castle", and also the suggestion about the filter. I've only got the more or less obligatory UV-filter to protect the lens so far. I do find skies tough to make interesting, so maybe that's something to consider.
And you're right, I have seen the Bridge of Sighs myself, as I spent a few days in Cambridge on the same trip that took me to Ely... and to Dolbadarn castle. A fantastic trip all round.
Take care.

Thanks for you comments and suggestion about the photo of my bride. I agree I need to get closer. I was using a 50mm lens with that session and I guess I would've been better off with an 80mm or more. I have a 50 to 200mm zoom I'll try that the next time I shoot. For a first time though I think it came out very well.

Hi john
thanks for your comments on "trees" and "a touch of rose".
I dont really know a great deal about trees, I just like to photograph what appeals to me. The tree photo has been slightly tampered with in photoshop and may be a little misleading in so much as the leaf is not as deep red as appears, however I think it could well be an acer tree, It was taken in the gardens of hever castle in Kent.

Hi john
thanks for your comments on "gate at the beacon" and "corfe castle". You are quite right the beacon is Ditchling beacon on the south downs very popular with walkers and cyclists, and Corfe castle from the gravyard is not one you usually see, I think it gives it a more sinister feel.

Hi john
I have not used neutral desity filters either, My understanding is that they cut down the amount of light that passes through the lens, useful when there be a situation when there are high contrasts.
However my knowledge is limited so you may find this link useful: www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/digicam/user-guide/filter/filter-ND.html

hope this works and is useful to you

Hello John. Thanks for taking a look at my gallery too. Also look at yours and I must say you really have that artistic eye. Your also made shots of people which I rarely do and do have not posted any on this site. I am also planning to venture into doing photographic studies of people subjects. I started using digital imaging system but now I'm interested with film and I shoot more film than digital. :) What I do is I sometimes check results with digital and transfer settings to film. In a way digital imaging has assisted in my learning of film photography. Cheers.

And thanks for your suggestions, I appreciate it.
You have some nice work yourself. I'll pour myself a drink and have a closer look soon.

> still enjoy film and it's unpredictability and will
> remain so till I'm forced out of it by necessity

That's exactly what I do and I can tell you, I feel the heat already with good processing labs closing and longer drives to buy my favorite film. But hey, when the going gets tough, the tough get going...
Greetings, Robert

Rohan Akunoori, 22.06.2005 at 17:39h

Hey John,
I have seen your work and I know from them you are a pro and have what it takes to express the unknown as I see it.
Well I am just a amature want to learn photography as it was my passion ever since i was a child and didnt do well infront of the cam. I used to have a Nikon FM2 that was years from now.
I saved up money for years and Now have a F80SLR flim with a 28-105 and a 70-300 ED lens. I am still learning that it take to combine F/stops shutter speeds and the ISO to get what I want though. Seems like it will take years to get out whats inside of me with hardwork but I believe that one day I will be able to do atleast the basic through my imagination.
Thanks to your guys that are Pro's that help me learn so much of what I want to.
God Bless you and prosper the work of your hands.
Hope to see more of your work to learn more.
Regards.

Thanks for the info, John. Surprising how a camera like the S5000 / S7000 can acheive some truly amazing results (with help from Photoshop ofcourse!)
Will try my luck at replicating your results.

Thank you Rob, I have been following your work for a while now and sorry if i have never commented, I love it all! I can't believe you think my photos are better than yours, yours are amazing!!! So amazing in fact that I have saved the duck one as a favourite. Did you alter that? If you didn't, that is pure talent. And, yes, I am Australia, I don't know why you would be so "honoured" that I'm Australian though, please explain!!! Love your work, keep it up!

Robert L. Roux, 3.06.2005 at 3:51h

Thank you for uour kind comment on 'Paper Rose' Yes there is a slight saddness to it, the colour causes this, I did try it in brighter colours but didn't feel it was as emotive.

Cheers

Great pics, all of them, Buddy!
Oh yeah - I'm slow, too, obviously...

Rob Wells, 18.05.2005 at 23:49h

Yes, the Holy Grail one. I think it appears in the final part of the film. It looks the same at least.

Mind you, I have often been known to be wrong.

Esther Scheelings, 18.05.2005 at 21:23h

David Allbutt, 18.05.2005 at 18:01h

Thank you for your comment. I haven't discovered how to use Photoshop yet, so all my shots are as taken.

Rob Wells, 18.05.2005 at 7:18h

Watcha, John.

Its always good to hear that someone is still using film as opposed to digital. I was never much of a film man myself - in fact I was frankly useless.

I had another look at Cheddar in BW, but I don't think it looked any better to be honest.

Anyway, it seems that a good little 'negativity' club is being formed right now, so I'll look forward to any comments you leave.

Take it easy. Rob

snakes, ha ha ha, thanks mate for your comment, if you are visiting West Australia give me a shout and we could go bush, with a swag and a tucker bag.
