About me

Started taking photographs at 9. Still here 37 years later, and still for fun.

Digital Cam: Olympus C-2, Kodak Z700, Fuji FinePix S9500
Film Cam: Canon T70

Jun 2008, the Kodak Z700 has given up the ghost, started to do its own thing like trying to take images when in preview mode, etc. So I now have a Kodak C703 for those 'need a quick cam now' moments. 7.1 megapixel images allows for some correction to composition without loss of quality, and the pixellation is sweet too.

As of 20/12/05 now sporting a Kodak Z700 4MP image capability, with 5X optical and 4X digital zoom. An added bonus is the Series 3 Printer Doc allowing direct printing of 6" X4" paper images.

It has impressed me... and things just get better. I tried my cam on a tripod today, out in the local woods and the quality just makes me happy. Wish I had upgraded years ago, can't wait to get to the 20 MP upgrade in another 3 years...lol

Manual focus is now added to my want list too, getting more control on my macros.

I have started to make even more use of the inbuilt facilities on my camera now, and the results are pleasing.

Here's a few of my favourites...

Doing something fun

Gallerie now open :o)

It looks like Christmas did come early this year. I now have my manual focus and lots of buttons to press. I have just been given my fathrs old camera, the Fuji FinePix S9500, and it is chock full of fiddly diddly stuff.

It took me 11 months to suss our the Kodak Z700, so maybe by next November I will have worked out all the fun stuff on this camera, and get excellent results. First try is posted, an edible fungi, taken on the kitchen worktop in fluorescent light, at 4" exposure, with the f-stop right down. Maybe with 9 megapixels I can try it out off macro and crop the useful bit, with a greater depth of field than the macro programme, and enough pixels for a half decent remaining image.

Time to go play... :o)

Another new toy... gorillapod. I feel the need to abandon the family today a go out with my camera, but patience is one of my virtues, I shall wait the perfect moment for silent walks in the woods with my lad.

04 April 2007
Today I lost a companion, Funky Monkey. I shouted at her sometimes, and got annoyed when she wanted cheese on crackers out of my mouth instead of heart and liver from her bowl. She always gave unconditional love, and was often seen lying on my chest with her head tucked under my chin. Today, she lost her life to a car, but it was quick. I moved this image to the relevant place.

Hi Neil, I just saw your photographs and I like them very much. Great perspectives and some of them are quite funny too. Very individualistic! More of them!

    Hi Neil,
thank you for your comment to my foto. You are right, this is an air-ambulance. It´s also used to transport very wounded people from this hospital to another hospital in Kiel.
    Kind regards Eigil

Hi Neil, hope your well, the overburn and contrast were the whole point of the picture really, I wanted to the feeling of intensity like in a "James Bond" Movie.
Perhaps I should have thought of that in the title.
The bird in "Feathery" would soon have your fingers for lunch,Neil it's a hawk which name escapes me at the moment.
    Kind regards John.
