Dear photographers,

In the twenty-first century, thanks to the intelligence and creativity of mankind, we are leaving in a much smaller world. The challenge of “around the world in eighty days” is by gone. Now, we can travel around the world in less than twenty-four hours, meet different people and cultures in short timelines. We do not even need to get out of our homes for such context. Thanks to the achievements of communications technology.

In our small world, all human beings are one of a kind with their feelings, clothes, facial and body languages. The mankind should come together, realize the limits of its living space and protect the beauties of our good old world. We should keep in mind that as for now, we do not have an alternative habitat.

A photo frame can be very instrumental in truly reflecting feelings, thoughts and beauties, at times when words remain insufficient. The visor is a photographer prospective to life and a camera, a tool of communication between the artist and subject. In a way a photographer may pack his camera and all tools after a long photographic journey and still keeps seeing his environment in frames. A photographer passion sometimes reaches a level where he looks at a dramatic scene with a sullen face and thinks “this could be better in black and white”. This actually is a reflective of a photographer’s symbiosis with the feelings of his subject.

Photography is the peaceful version of hunting. A photographer goes for a hunt for his subjects. You can come across with a variety of them. Some rejoicefully accept the artist’s invitation to communicate and some decline or even show reactions. There is no greater pain for a photographer than obeying to this reactions and not being able to immortalize a timeless moment. The happiness and satisfaction of an accomplished photograph however can best be displayed by a self-portrait.

Some significant objects like Tower of Eiffel, the Statue of Liberty or the Sydney Opera House are inured symbols in photography. Yet they can still set a scene for creative photographers, because each approaches similar objects in a different way. You will find them in search of a significant perspective and light effect around a still object to glue a personalized view of point and light effect that changes every minute of the time. If you take into consideration the angle of objects and the changing light effects by time altogether, you will reach an infinitive number of frames and think that no object on this earth can be captured twice... Here we begin with the mathematics and philosophy of photographic art, a representation by means of lines, in other words "drawing with light and perspective“which has no limits…

This virtual exhibition of mine entitled “Faces and Scenes” is the fruit of long term work that shows a devotion to the art of photography.

Compiling the selected frames in this portfolio, this virtual exhibition is reflective of my very own view to the world.

hello Ali Erbas,

thanks for your thoughts! you are right; when i shot this series, i had just then learned of that photoshop-tool and definetly overdid it..... maybe i will work it over when i have the time! i am just learning and am so overwhelmed by all the possibilities; it will take some time until i really know how to use light and digital processing in a way that actually represents my original thoughts!

well, thanks again and keep up your good work!

Simon

"In this virtual exhibition, I aim to reflect the vast impressions of human beings and places that we live in. This world, no matter if it is sad or happy, poor or healthy, is beautiful and rich. We, photographers owe a duty to the public viewers, to open a small window to the world, to reflect the beauty of people and places, their faces and scenes, to capture that scarce moment in time, reflecting an emotion or a theme from our individual perspectives."
thats beautiful, many thanks

Hi Ali,
Your pictures are so strong. But this is the world we live in, few people with so many and many with almost nothing. Hope your pictures will touch the hearts of many people who does nothing with reference to poverty and misery around the world.

Hello Ali,
thank you of your nice fotomail answering at my outing: I agree with you and be thankful to have you found here.
In respect of your thought- provoking photography, I give you here a poem:

Carpe diem

If the night will be excaped
of the daybreak
and you listen the first song
of the black bird
than you are here

Anyway the light ball
will exceeds the zenith
so you are walking again
to the night

Also the butterfly don’t know
another way to go

One day, you will prefer the night
and it will be comfort
in memory of any days
without the butterfly

I have visited your girlfriend: I made there also orange.
She is also a very interesting young women.

Dear Ali,

Thank you very much for your kind words in my profile. I have to agree that we both have a very similar approach to photography. Your images are very deep, always respectful of the human beings you are picturing, showing very intimate moments. They touch you. I believe you are fullfilling your mission stated above.

Take care,
Marc

Just had a look at your pictures and even found some suitable frames;-) Don't worry! The very first one "simple and joyful" is really amazing. Unfortunately I sold my credits for voting proposals;-) No, sometimes I'm just fed up with this kind of critisism.
For your "serum" I'd recommend to choose section "Doku & Reportage" resp. "Documentary and Journalism".
And if you ever manage to shoot Jesus' crucifixion, I'd like to see it first.

Dear Patrick,

Many thanks for your kind comments…

You are right -:)

My portfolio is being presently -half way- updated… I did some thing crazy and erased my entire analog images from photo community. All my negatives are being digitalized and sorted in a way.

Presently I have uploaded only few images. And the rest is not open for public -photo home I mean- Some images I do keep for my personal photo exhibitions which will start as of mid 2007.

I did remove about 200 photos from FC and upload about 220 new photos in a very short time. It may be too intensive for visitors to catch up with so many images in such a short while…

By the way, I have the crazy photo-excursion project which will start from Singapore all the way to Turkey. And I am in search of a safe route and a travel partner who shall be also a photographer and interested for a long trip by car. I will announce this soon once every thing is ready from my side...

By then I hope many people will be able to experience and also comment about those pictures…

God bless you :-)

D. Ynoche, 15.06.2006 at 17:51h

hello Ali:
so entschloss ich mich einige anmerkungen spontan (from the bottom of my thinking in the center of what others call clear emotion) unter einiges zu setzen.
-
-
bevor meine anmerkung nun uferlos wird (as you remark: I love to write), ich bin nicht alleine auf <planet earth> lasse ich anderen individuen den platz....
all the best for you too.

Danke für die Anmerkung.

Schmal it der Stuhl... Aber nicht die Phantasie. Ich denke, daß Phantasie eine eherliche Herausforderung als das Gesehene selbst ist.

Was denkst du?

Falsche Freunde, 29.05.2006 at 20:47h

thanks for your message !

...the fantasy gives us the necessary free space to dreams and everyone can its own pictures make itself.

Ali Erbas, 29.05.2006 at 19:51h

Ciao Chiara,

Thanks for giving me the chance to experience your world of view towards details in black and white. I am use to read faces and paralinguistic elements of people no matter what race and how strange.

Experiencing your work, I consider you being focused on “details” in a sense of being focused on “portraits of elements” and it indeed is a challenging job. My compliments; I am never good at this. I see two major similarities between our works: We like to focus on details and we like them mostly in black and white. We like them in black and white; because we like to challenge the looks and we simply want them to go beyond .

…because we want them to become “imaginations.”
