About me

English:
In the old times, film cameras existed, everyone took their potos, take them to a lab and make them print, those old times when people really spent time taking photographs, but the number of cameras has increased, now they’re digital and even come in the mobile phones, and the most you have to do is to press the shutter, and if now you don’t even have to worry about focusing your own photo, I don’t wanna think about how is gonna be photography in the future.

And it’s not that I don’t use this features, it’s not that I don’t put my camera on “auto” once in a while and I’m not proud of it, but that’s the exception and not the rule, and a good picture with no effort, doesn’t match in quality to the feeling of satisfaction that gives you a good picture, with it’s aperture, speed and sensibility chosen by yourself.

For those who have used film cameras, they know this feeling of not knowing in the moment you took a picture, this feeling of having to wait to know if you did well, maybe you feel you didn’t, you didn’t make a good take, but you can’t really know until it’s printed, an inconvenient time, but at the end of the day, that’s part of the magic of photography. Sometimes, I don’t look at my pictures until I’m home, to emulate a little bit of that magic on analog photography, yes, this way I may take 200 pictures and only choose 3 that I really liked, but that’s part of learning, that’s the way to become a good photographer.

And it’s really sad to see how any teenager with a Reflex thinks that he/she is a professional photographer, they might now how to get good framing and good angles, but never more than that, never making mistakes, never obtaining different results form that that your camera’s automatic modes offer to us, never valuing their perfect picture of one second and one try, like I and other photographer truly can value our pictures that might take us even hours and several shots that are even horrible at our sight.

That’s why when I see a picture decades-old, taken for some anonymous (or a famous photographer, that doesn’t really matters) it really gives me something, that even being on my PC screen has that magic that had on it’s film, before even being into the lab, and I feel I’m learning, and I want to learn to be a real professional, like those from the old school.
