Hi all. I found "fotocomunity" by accident and I'm very glad I did! There are some awesome pictures on the site, I can only hope mine "make the grade". Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.

I live in Lincoln, England, and enjoy photography as a serious hobby. Although I don't have too much time to indulge. This state MUST be remedied!!

Please feel free to comment on anything I post. I only ask that you are not too harsh! Ha! Ha!

I also have a website that is a work in progress and any comments about that are welcomed also.

Regards,

Steve.

My "tools" consist of the following:-

Nikon D300s.
Sigma 70mm Macro lens.
Nikon 70-200mm zoom lens.
Nikon 18-70mm zoom lens.
Nikon SB800 Flash.
Giottos Mono Pod.
Giottos Carbon Fibre Tripod with MH1300 Pro Ball Head.
Various filters, (although I only tend to use a Polarizer).
All the above, and more!, are carried around in or on a Kata 3n1 Back Pack.

Hi to all my 'buddies'. I would just like to say a big belated thank you to all that wished me a happy birthday.
*Note to self* I must sign in more often!

They can be cuddly wuddly somewhere else!! There is a MASSIVE one on the porch that eyeballs me every time I go out the front door! ;)

Hi Steve, thank you for your comment on the robin. I have to admit that this picture should really have gone onto my granddaughter, Holly's site. I set her up to take it with my camera but she actually took it! It was too late when I realised what I'd done. The picture was taken at Widecombe-in-the-Moor on a very busy tourist day - the robin didn't care a bit!

Dave Hare, 14.07.2010 at 17:52h

Hi Steve, not a repost but I have posted other shots from the same set

Hi Steve,
Yes it is in our garden, it is one of mums roses and it is as big as a big hand!!

Sally

Dave Hare, 28.06.2010 at 10:34h

The gloves are big, but they are the only ones I have :) The background is an old blue tarpaulin from my brothers farm, it took forever to clean it.

Hi Steve - Thank you for your comments. You're right. I should have cropped in to the flower heads. I've got a lot to learn - but maybe I will if I keep getting tips!
Many thanks
Helena

Sally Dunn, 26.06.2010 at 23:13h

Hi Steve,
The colours of the mascarade rose are all on the same bush amazingly! I do love it because they all look so pretty together. Thanks for your comments.
Regards
Sally

Sally Dunn, 19.06.2010 at 18:18h

Hi Steve,
You are right, it would make a great jigsaw! I never thought of that. I can imagine trying to find all the flower pieces!
I will try and get a picture of the pond when my gardener has done the grill. He tends to do other peoples gardens in the mornings and then does his own in the afternoons. He is very talented and has good vision bless him!
Thanks for leaving your comments.

Yeah, tell me about it. I have to wear specs to look at the camera and then take 'em off to look through it. This just makes a change from the usual sharp('ish) art nudes.

Er.... thank you for your very kind comments..... if I'm doing so well, perhaps I ought not to buy a camera like Sally's after all......!! Actually, my little camera doesn't seem to be giving me the same vibrant colours as Sally's. This rose is considerably darker in 'real life' than it looks here.

Helena Rogers, 16.06.2010 at 20:51h

HI Steve! Thank you for your comment! Glad she didn't fall through - although the way they jump about on it - it could happen!

Thank you for your comment on my picture of Stourhead Gardens. Could I have got the sky better with my simple camera or does one need to have a better camera - or maybe know a lot more about taking pictures!

My wife again :) They are great tights! The background is lit with a couple of dish reflectors with honeycombe grids on to give the pools of light, then burned in at the edges in PS. I was really pleased with this, lit with a Canon speedlight to camera left, and a bit of fill from the right. A very relaxed shoot one evening in Switzerland Dave

We fooled around with a few of these poses, feline is a good word for them :), it's a pale grey colorama background, but I had to stretch it a bit in PS

The good old days of film eh? I've been digi for 9 years now, just add a bit of noise, seems to work well. Glad you like the legs - it's my wife :)) Dave.

Dave Hare, 9.02.2010 at 10:26h

Thanks again Steve, these tights did look great on her :) I always enjoy lighting and shooting bodyscapes, the chain and the oil & water just add a little. Dave.

Dave Hare, 27.01.2010 at 16:57h

Thanks, and yeah, you could be right :) Dave.

Dave Hare, 26.01.2010 at 15:01h

Thanks, we used the corner room light, hence the warm colour. My wife is really quite shy :)) Dave.

Dave Hare, 10.01.2010 at 15:59h

Hi Steve, she did look great! Yep, she's got it all :)) Glad you like the shot. Dave.

Dave Hare, 6.01.2010 at 12:24h

Thanks Steve, she was stood in front of a large softbox, with a small softbox to camera right. I was pleased with the symmetry. I think I removed all the offending loose ends :) The colours are just fabulous, and yes, it looks as though she is!

IHi Steve. I agreed with Leo I really need to get my act together or otherwise face the bosses of fotocommunity and be repremanded for this misdemeanour.
Greetings John.

Hi Steve,
Yes you are right, they didn't last long but I did save 3 for the morning for breakfast!
My daughter cut half the lid off the box, I think she was making it into a time machine. Like they do!

Sally Dunn, 29.08.2009 at 19:41h

Hi Steve,
I don't know what the flower structure was for, I think it was purely decoration for the town centre. You couldn't go in it, there was a barrier there. The flowers were made out of metal and screwed together I think.

Hi Steve,
They don't change colour as they get older but depending on the type of soil they they are in, they are either pink or blue. Mum says if the soil has a high iron content then the colour goes deep blue, funky!! Thank you for taking the time to comment.

How on earth did you know it was a caterpillar of the Magpie moth?! You are very knowledgeable, to me they all look the same!

Hi to everyone visiting. For anyone interested, I've posted some pictures taken at the recent Airshow. The weather was great, (very different from last year!!)

Also posted are other recent shots taken whilst out and about at various locations walking in the countryside.

I hope there is something of interest for viewers. Comments are gratefully received, as always.

Dave Hare, 26.05.2009 at 13:32h

Thanks Steve, this is a theme I plan to develop - when I find the right models :))

As it was such a lovely day, I took myself off for a walk around Chamber's Wood, which is near Bardney in Lincolnshire. I've posted a few pictures taken with my new Wide Angle Zoom which arrived last Wednesday.
