It is great to be able to look at so much work from other members. I've been on board for only a short time and I already have connections around the world. Thanks to everyone who's commented and everyone who takes the trouble to upload their work. I'm having fun!!
Paul

Hi,

To take snow picture, the first rule is to under-expose to avert that the result became too white.

For this picture, I've would adjust my camera down near earth to underline the snow lift up by the wind.

Sorry for my english, I hope you would understand what I mean to tell...

Best regards,
Patrick.

Thanks for the comment Paul. The junkyard is right inside Lockport, NY. Kohl's Salvage was the name of it. Its just a few blocks from the Erie Canal on Pine Street, Lockport, NY.

hi paul,

thanks for your comment on "yesterday" and "fiery"!

interesting stuff about the soft shoe shuffle! i didn't know that, even though i think i've seen the laurel and hardy movie…

the leaves in my profile shot are actually floating on top of the water. at least i think so… i took the picture of myself as a "shady" reflection leaning over the rail of a wooden footbridge. its a favorite of a friend of mine who also thought the leaves were falling and blowing through the darkness. well, maybe they are then…

i like your obscure titles!

greetings from germany!

sabine.

Robert L. Roux, 9.11.2008 at 8:41h

hi and thanks paul
i've got a bunch of cameras
and a buncha lenses -
and the only good way
to get a good picture of anything
is to get as close as you can ...

i'm pretty much compelled
to use my not-all-that-great
nikon 70-300mm fully zoomed
for any eagle pictures
because when i close enough
to use a better lens
they fly away.
i've got lotsa really great photos
of eagles' butts ... ;-))
happy sunday greetings from the north country
robert

Hi Paul!
Thanks a lot for your nice comment. No I didn't use any special technique, the light was quite soft in there so I just tried to use high-key a bit :-)

Thanks for the comment Paul.

I did enhance the tree coloring with a "Indian Summer" setting available in 'Color EFEX'. Which helped enrich the orange already present in the photo.
Thanks for the look!

Niggyboy , 25.10.2008 at 17:58h

Hi Paul thanks again for your comments. To answer your question, all colour toning was done in photoshop. A combination of Hue/Sat and channel mixer. If you have photoshop there are many many combinations you can experiment with. There were selections made of foreground and background with gaussian blur, this makes the focus on the abbey stand out.
cheers,
Nige.
