Das Herz

Eines Tages stellte sich ein jünger Mann in die Mitte des Ortes und verkündete, er habe das schönste Herz im ganzen Tal.
Eine große Menge versammelte sich um ihn, und alle bewunderten sein Herz, denn es sah vollkommen aus. Nicht eine Schramme war daran und nicht die kleinste Delle.
Ja, alle stimmten zu, dass dies wirklich das schönste Herz sei, das sie j e gesehen hatten. Der junge Mann war sehr stolz und prahlte noch lauter mit seinem schönen Herzen.

Plötzlich trat ein alter Mann aus der Menge heraus und sagte: »Ach was, dein Herz ist lange nicht so schön wie meines.« Die Menge und der junge Mann blickten auf das Herz des Alten.
Es schlug stark, doch es war voller Narben. Stücke waren herausgebrochen und andere eingesetzt, aber sie passten nicht genau, und so gab es einige raue Kanten.
Tatsächlich waren da sogar mehrere tiefe Löcher, wo ganze Teile fehlten. Die Leute starrten darauf wie kann er sagen, dachten sie, sein Herz sei schöner?

Der junge Mann schaute auf das Herz des Alten, sah seinen Zustand und lachte. »Du machst wohl Witze«, sagte er. »Vergleich dein Herz mit meinem: meines ist vollkommen und deines ist voller Narben und Löcher!« »Ja«, sagte der alte Mann, »dein Herz sieht vollkommen aus, aber ich würde doch niemals mit dir tauschen.

Weißt du, jede Narbe steht für einen Menschen, dem ich meine Liebe gegeben habe. Ich nahm ein Stück von meinem Herzen und gab es ihm, und oft gab er mir dafür ein Stück von seinem eigenen Herzen, das den leeren Platz in meinem ausfüllte.

Aber weil die Stücke nicht genau gleich sind, habe ich ein paar Unebenheiten - die ich in Ehren halte, weil sie mich an die Liebe erinnern, die wir geteilt haben.«

Manchmal«, fuhr er fort, »habe ich ein Stück meines Herzens weggegeben, und der andere Mensch gab mir kein Stück von seinem zurück.
Das sind die Lücken. Liebe zu geben ist immer ein Risiko. Diese Lücken schmerzen, doch sie bleiben offen und erinnern mich an die Liebe, die ich auch für diese Menschen habe, und ich hoffe, dass sie mir eines Tages etwas zurückgeben und den leeren Platz füllen, der darauf wartet.

Siehst du jetzt«, fragte der Alte, »worin die Schönheit meines Herzens besteht?« Der junge Mann stand schweigend und Tränen liefen über seine Wangen. Er ging zu dem alten Mann, dann griff er nach seinem perfekt schönen jungen Herzen und riss ein Teil heraus.
Mit zitternden Händen bot er es dem Alten an. Der alte Mann nahm es an und setzte es in sein Herz, dann nahm er ein Stück seines alten narbigen Herzens und setzte es in die Wunde im Herzen des jungen Mannes.
Es passte, aber nicht ganz genau, so blieben einige raue Kanten. Der junge Mann schaute auf sein Herz, das nicht mehr vollkommen war, aber doch schöner als je zuvor, weil Liebe aus dem Herzen des alten Mannes hineingeflossen war.
