Calendar

The calendar, or user-calendar, is a feature where fotocommunity-users can set appointments for user-meetings, workshops and general informations regarding events taking place with connection to photography.

Table of contents

General

This feature works pretty well on fotocommunity.de and is new at fotocommunity.com.

We found some difficulties ourselves and you'll probaly find some more, because we can't test everything. If you find problems, please mail them to dhofmann@fotocommunity.com or send a fotomail (http://www.fotocommunity.com/info/Fotomails) to Dirk Hofmann (http://www.fotocommunity.com/pc/account/myprofile/12143).

Known issues:

  • zipcodes are limited to 5 digits (numbers only)
  • translation error in ready entries overview

How do i create a new entry for the user calendar?

Remember: Creating dates in the calendar is only available for power members (http://www.fotocommunity.com/info/Credits#Userlevels)!

If you are a power member and want to create a calendar entry, do as shown here:

Go to the calendar by clicking the link in the channel bar:

Image:Calendarbutton1a.jpg

Navigate to the date you want to select with the arrows (if necessary) or by clicking the date in the calendar (if you want to make an entry for the actual month).

Image:Calendararrows.jpg

The orange "e" (edit) allows you to change or edit your describtion. As you can see comments are possible so users can communicate to the event here. Of course only team-members and the initiator can edit the entries. The edit function is not available for other users.

In our example we want to enter an event for a new photo project, which will happen at July, 9th 2006.

The standard view for the calendar is the actual month. If you want to select another month, please use the arrows to navigate the calendar.

Now click the date you want to enter your event in.

The actual date is filled white, the date you selected orange and you see the link "enter a date" at the bottom of the navigation box. Go ahead and click it.

The input window for your canlendar entry opens and input your information now:

After you confirm your entries, your proposal will be crosschecked by the administration and go online after it was approved.

After the entry was approved it will automaticly appear in the overview for the month you selected in the calendar navigation.

As you see the entry's color is blue (event). You can also check how many people stated interest or confirmed their participation.
