nikon d40 autofocus problem

hi i have a d40 which recently i am experiencing auto focus problems with,tried with various lenses, i have but sometimes the auto focusing just wont work ? any ideas
Maybe its a good idea to mention which lenses you have and with which lenses you have problems?

hi, i am using nikon 18-55 vr nikon 18-105 vr also nikon 70- 300 vr,the problem occurs on all these lenses.
this morning in fact put on 18-105 lens.didnt work,you can hear the motor,but no autofocus, left it a few seconds,tried again and it worked

Seems that your D40 body has a problem.
You could try to clean the contacts in the lensfitting on the body.
However probably you have to take it to your dealer for a checkup.

In an auto focus problem first thing you should check is the lens there are also some camera that the lens its not suitable on its body but you can still change your lens in much better.

I also have same issue with my nikond40, I hope this tips provide some help for me.I will give that try.
