My Nikon D70 showed me error sign number 07. I took it to the technician and he said the shutter is out of order and needs to be replaced. The price he asked is so high that it is not worth while fixing it at all.
My son has good technical skills so he suggested to buy a sutter and try to fix the camera by himself.
I want to ask you if you think this idea is good. Do you think this could be done by someone who is not proffesional?

I would certainly not advise to do such thing, i even doubt whether you will be able to obtain a new shutter anywhere.
Nikon will probably not sell you any.
Have you checked with the official Nikon repair department?

In general a camera system after such part of a shutter has been replaced, also needs to be calibrated, and that is something you simply do not have to tools for.

Here's a link to the Nikon rep in Israel.

Thank you.
Yes, I checked with Nikon Israel and fixing the camera is so expensive that I considered buying a new one. But my son thought he might try fixing it himself.
So I understand it is not possible. Thank you again!
