now, i would like to show my pictures here in the fotocommunity.
my question: what is the best way to resize the pictures from the original size to the limits of fotocommunity.com without loosing quality and sharpness?
i would appreciate any comments.

You have two possibilities:
1 - Buy an image editing program like Photoshop;
2 - Download this free program: http://www.irfanview.com
It allows you to resize (and many other things) your photos. :-)

Stefan, I just bought Photoshop Elements 2.0, a cut down version of the more expensive Photoshop. Resizing photos with it is really easy. Tim
If it's only about resizing and compressing the image without visble loosing of quality, then visit

And download a free-trial program JPEGImager 2.2 Probably the best programm for compressing and resizing images!!!
The sharpness will be lost in anyway by resizing an image! So you will have to use a sharping filter. You can do it also in the mentioned programm. I like its special feature called "Fit to image size". Just click on it, type 130 kb, the programm will do the rest for you.
Look at my samples below, they're resized and compressed with that programm

Hi all, my question isn't really how to resize the image, because I am able to change the image size on Photoshop CS easily. My question is in regards to uploading the image to fotocommunity. Some photos come out fairly large and others are extremely small. What image size should I use to get the maximum size photo on fotocommunity. Dimensions? pixels? Inches? etc..etc. Thanks.

It's very simple once you read carefully the conditions of uploading in the "Help" section (just click on the "?" button). The size of the image you are going to upload should be not more than 900*700 px and not more than 130 kb or 260 kb (if you are an instant member and have the "double posting" function). By following this you will always have large enough images.

Seems that Ifran Photo Editor hasn't been updated for a long time. I find a tutorial way to resize numerous photos and I used it when I needed to resize photos:

One of the best ways to store your photos is keeping at least three copies of them. It is very important to backup your photos both offline and online. Keeping a copy offline on your computer or hard drive gives you easy access even when you are not connected to Internet. For the other two copies, choose online services.
