At the moment i´m thinking of buying a new editing program because i´m not enterely happy with Paint Shop Pro 7.

I'd suggest you take a look at photofiltre. It offers a lot of features for editing. It might not have everything you are looking for but worth a look, especially as it's just a €25 shareware program.
Of course, if you want to go more mainstream, I'd look at Corel Photopaint or the Adobe products.
I still use Photopaint 8 and it does more than I'll ever need.
That goes for Adobe Elements to, I have Version 2 (was free with a printer) and does a lot.
Other alternatives would include Gimp of course. Another free program.
Good luck in your choice.

Hi Rob - I have Gimp on a free cover disc - can you tell me more about it so that I dont have to install it .. Cheers, Paul.
I have photofiltre on a CD, will try it now but from the few minutes I took to explore it, it didn´t seem to me much more better then PSP 7. But I will see, thank you for your answer!

I am using Paintshop Pro X and feel very happy with it, upgraded form PsP 9.0 just 2 weeks ago.
I would recomend photoshop CS2.
Here's some examples of what a little 18 year old girl can do with a photohop elements program (wich isent half as good as the CS2 one)

GIMP is certainly worth trying. It gives the feel of PS. I use it for quite some years now and am still very content with it.

Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Paint Shop Pro 9.0 are the best; and GIMP for simple and quick manipulations!

I mean that the pay release of photofiltre, photofiltre studio (Release 9 now) plus a lot of adobe free filters (such as the *.8bf on 8bf.net) covers the most of the purposes you ´ll ever need.
And it can allready import Raw.
Better as some expansiver programs.

Besides the GIMP which is what I have and love, are there any other good free programs out there, until I can afford Photoshop? thanks

Save your money and try out the following: -
photofiltre - excellent
the gimp - the windows version is not as good as the linux
photo! editor (not a misprint) - excellent for quick fixes
I used a combination of all three until my wife bought me Photoshop CS3 extended. Lucky me! ;~D
