Hello, im a new member...

If i want to post a photo in the WORLD or NATURE section, is it ok to make a little processing of it in Photoshop?
Or should i post it natural as it is?

Hi Anula,

Its completely up to you how you present your pictures.
You should consider Photoshop or any other software as a digital darkroom, so you can present as you like.

Only in case you really make digital artwork then the section digital art may be the right one.

Hi Anula - I am sure most, if not everybody, will agree with me when I say that posting a modified image is absolutely fine .. most images on here have gone under the knife .. in PS terms ... with either sharpening, cropping, slight colour balance change etc etc ... because of in-camera processing a little sharpening is usually necessary on most digital images anyway. The line is a very wavy and unclear one that seperates general images from those we would class as Digiart. The term Digiart does refer to images that have been significantly altered using PS (or similar) so I would not worry about things like cropping .. cropping has been done by everyone from year dot ... Hope this helps. Regards, Paul, Subjects Channel-Manager

Even photojournalism works are processed to a degree. Although you used a darkroom you would have processed it along the way so a little to a lot enchantment is no problem.

Hi Anna, i am new also, if you want to make the accent of the photo stronger you can cut the unnecessary objects that will take out the attention of the viewer with the crop function of the program, sometimes some operations are necessary.

Hi Anna!

Naturaly.

A picture you took "on the fly" may be a great shot or not.

If you have very much time to take a view, it is better to check if everything is ok before you take it.
Because every work on the picture destruct or modify a part of the digital informations.

Croping is the lightest way to perfect an image and get the headmotive in the "golden cut"

Hi!
I am new too.
I think that it's ok to crop or proces the photo but it's much better if you dicide it by the time you take the picture.
For me it's kind of "non-creative" watching your files one by one, trying to create one nice pic using the crop feature.

Even if you arrange perfectly a pic in the moment you take it, with most of our cameras you can't make a square, a strip etc.
So you 're obliged to crop.
Don't worry, it's ok!

OK, everyone has a view. We are in the digital era now and processing in photoshop or indeed any other software programme is exactly the same as years ago when chemicals were used, specialist equipment was used, dodge and burn was invented, over and under exposure was used. In fact everything that software does now has been used before in analogue photography!

Except we can burst the boundaries now.

My advice is to go for as much as you like, use the technology to the full. Most people here do, a lot dont know how to. They will learn.

Sorry Ruud, but if the pictures are loaded in FC "World" or "Nature", they are coming as JPEG...Or not?

Naturally, if the magazines "World" and "Nature" are in the question, it is another stuff.

Hi i think sometimes you relly do have to crop, because the other little things that you captured in the photo that you were not suppose to, takes away the real effect of what you were trying to accomplish in the first place, so go for it i say,
